Chuck McCann and partner Harry Hurwitz filmed "The Projectionist" entirely in New York in 1969. It was released in 1970 and has become somewhat of a cult favorite. In fact, the film has been preserved by The Museum of Modern Art, Film and Video Department. It is also known for the acting debut of Rodney Dangerfield as the theater owner.
The film is about a lonely projectionist (Chuck McCann) who escapes his dull life by imagining that he is the superhero Captain Flash. Throughout his day, his imagination takes him from the trailer of the horrible or fabulous "world of tomorrow" to rescuing a damsel in distress.
